Healthcare services for people and animals generate potentially infectious waste that can be a danger to the environment and public health. This waste must be disposed of properly, in accordance with strict regulations for destruction and decontamination. Facilities that generate this type of waste include hospitals, medical, dental and veterinary offices and clinics, clinical analysis laboratories, blood banks, pharmacies, beauty salons, tattoo parlors, etc.
Due to its characteristics, this type of waste must receive special treatment from collection to final disposal.
Estre carries out the collection, transport, treatment and final disposal of all groups of waste, pursuant to ANVISA RDC 306/04 and CONAMA 358/05, except for Group C – Radioactive waste.
The collection and transport of healthcare waste already packaged by the client, in accordance with its classification, is carried out by vehicles that are clearly identified and certified by INMETRO for the safe transport of this waste, in accordance with ABNT NBR 12810:2016 and ABNT NBR 9735:2016.

Autoclave: a steam sterilization process for Group A1, A4 and E, in which steam is applied under pressure to sterilize the waste. It consists of a feeder system under specific pressure conditions, which conveys the waste to a watertight chamber where steam is injected under vacuum conditions at a temperature that ranges from 130°C to 140°C. The waste must remain in the chamber for a specific period of time until it becomes sterilized
Microwaves: a technology for thermal treatment at a temperature of between 90°C and 98ºC, used to disinfect waste from Groups A1, A2, A4 and E, through exposure of the waste to high-frequency electromagnetic waves (microwaves), to eliminate possible microbiological contamination. This system also breaks down and reduces the volume of the waste treated.
Incinerator: a thermal treatment process using temperatures of between 800°C and 1200ºC, this system is also used in the treatment of healthcare waste, generally for the treatment of animal carcasses (Groups A2, A4), body parts (Group A3 and Group B), reducing weight and volume through controlled combustion. The ashes generated in this process are sent to Licensed Class I Landfills.
After treatment, the waste is sent for final disposal in duly licensed sanitary landfills, according to strict standards of quality.
